How it started...

Single Moms BCN was born from a breaking point — not from inspiration, but from exhaustion.
 

After losing my job, starting a master’s degree, discovering I was pregnant, ending my relationship, finding a new job, and finally graduating (yes, in that order), I arrived at my graduation ceremony with my baby.

They didn’t let us in.
 

That moment wasn’t just personal — it highlighted broader societal and institutional failings.

Another reminder of how many barriers appear when you become a mother, especially when you’re doing it alone.

That experience gave prominence to a harsh reality of imbalance in our society, but what truly mattered was the decision that followed: I couldn’t accept this reality anymore.

What started as a small WhatsApp group and a few spontaneous meetups quickly grew into a community of women who felt the same: strong, tired, lonely, brave — and craving connection.
 

That’s when Nathalie and María Paula joined the mission. Together, we turned a raw idea into a non-profit community built from lived experience.
